Frequently Asked Questions
How do I start the process of getting a lift?
Simply call or message us through our website. Once we know where your home is located and the lift size you’re interested in, we’ll provide a detailed quote. As soon as you approve the quote and submit your deposit, we’ll get your project started right away.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. We’ll give you a clear, no-obligation estimate that includes materials, installation, and permitting.
How long does it take to get a lift installed?
From the time you place your order, most lifts are built, permitted, and installed within 4–6 weeks, depending on your county’s permitting timeline.
Do you handle the permitting process?
Yes. Sunshine Lifts takes care of all county and local permits for you. We coordinate directly with the permitting office and keep you updated each step of the way.
Are there any reasons a lift might not be approved?
It’s rare, but certain setbacks or proximity to boat ramps or easements can affect approval. If that happens, we’ll help you find an alternate installation location that works within local code.
What lift sizes do you offer?
We offer three main options:
Sunrise (42”x42”) — compact and efficient for tight spaces.
Sunset (54”x54”) — larger, ideal for heavy or bulky loads.
Custom Lifts — built to your exact size and color preferences.
Can I choose my lift color?
Yes. All lifts are 100% powder-coated, available in white, gray, black, seafoam, or nearly any custom color you’d like.
Can the lift be installed on any type of home?
Yes. We install lifts on everything from beach houses and stilt homes to pole barns and doublewides. As long as there’s a stable structure for mounting, we can make it work.
What’s the difference between the Sunrise and Sunset models?
The Sunrise is smaller (42x42) and great for tight spaces or lighter use, while the Sunset (54x54) offers more space for frequent or heavier loads.
Do you build ADA or personal lifts?
No. Sunshine Lifts specializes in cargo lifts only, not ADA-compliant or passenger lifts.
What materials are Sunshine Lifts made from?
We use 6061/6063 marine-grade aluminum, aircraft-grade stainless steel cables, and stainless steel motors and hardware—built to withstand Florida’s coastal conditions.
Are the lifts corrosion-resistant?
Absolutely. Every basket is powder-coated to resist salt air, humidity, and UV damage, ensuring it stays strong and attractive for decades.
How much weight can a lift hold?
Each lift can safely handle up to 1,000 lbs, depending on the model.
How tall can the lift travel?
Our lifts typically travel up to 28 feet, but custom options are available for taller homes.
Are Sunshine Lifts hurricane-rated?
Yes. They’re engineered for up to 200 mph wind loads, built to survive Florida’s toughest weather.
How is the lift operated?
Every lift comes with a wireless remote for easy operation. You can raise or lower your lift from anywhere nearby.
What happens if the power goes out?
Our optional 2,000-watt battery backup system allows your lift to operate during outages, storms, or emergencies.
What safety features are included?
Each lift includes an Instant Halt Safety System that automatically stops movement if there’s an interruption, along with non-slip decking, precision gear drive, and aircraft-grade cables.
Can the lift be stopped mid-travel?
Yes. The wireless remote allows full control, so you can stop it at any point in its travel range.
Who installs the lift?
Our own in-house team handles every installation—no subcontractors. We bring the lift, set it up, and ensure everything is fully functional before we leave.
How long does installation take?
Most lifts are fully installed within one to two days once the team is on-site.
What preparation is needed before installation?
We handle almost everything. If you have plants, furniture, or obstacles near the installation area, we may ask that they be moved or trimmed back in advance.
Will installation damage my property or landscaping?
No. The process is clean and organized. We use minimal equipment and leave your property as we found it—just with a brand-new lift.
What electrical work is needed?
We’ll coordinate with your electrician if needed. Typically, a standard 110V power source near the lift location is sufficient.
Do you offer maintenance plans?
Yes. We provide annual maintenance service to inspect cables, grease fittings, and adjust gearboxes to keep everything running smoothly.
How much maintenance does the lift require?
Very little. Most homeowners can perform basic maintenance themselves, but our yearly checkup ensures long-term reliability.
How long will the lift last?
With proper maintenance, Sunshine Lifts are built to outlast the home they’re installed on.
What is the warranty?
2-Year Electrical Warranty
5-Year Structural Warranty
We stand behind our products and respond quickly if issues arise.
How much does a Sunshine Cargo Lift cost?
Most installations range from $10,000 to $13,000, depending on lift size, location, and permitting requirements.
What’s included in the price?
Your total includes fabrication, powder coating, delivery, installation, permitting, and warranty—no hidden fees.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. A deposit is collected to begin the permitting and fabrication process.
Do you offer financing?
No, we currently do not offer financing. Full or staged payments are accepted via check, card, or bank transfer.
Who do I contact if I need service or repairs?
You’ll always talk directly to our team—usually Matt or Samantha. No call centers, no runaround.
Can I upgrade my lift later?
Yes. We can add a battery backup, new control system, or powder-coat refinish at any time.
How do I clean my lift?
Just rinse with fresh water to remove salt residue. No special cleaners are required.
Will my lift increase my home’s value?
Yes! A professionally installed cargo lift adds both functionality and resale value, especially for coastal and multi-level homes.
